Acknowledging that true evangelization will come through the art of our community living, we realize that continual formation is vital to foster knowledge and growth. As Applicants and Sisters, we receive formation in the following …

  1. The Spirituality and Vision of the Companions of the Cross: In his teachings, Fr. Bob Bedard anchors us to this spirituality and vision. It is through his help, guidance, and wisdom that the sisterhood will be molded and shaped.
  2. Sr. Anna Speaking at formationThe Companions of the Cross Formation Series: Several Companions and Sisters give the applicants the Companions formation talks. The applicants receive formation that is particular to their year of applicancy.
  3. The Needs of the Poor: For several years, the Servants have been volunteering at Our Lady of His Mercy Friendship Drop-In Centre. The mission of the Centre is to be a presence of Christ on the street. For us, it is a place to offer our applicants formation in their prayer life (as they encounter Jesus in His poor), in their human formation (as they learn especially how to be good listeners, friendly, and hospitable), and in their mission as evangelizers (as they proclaim the person of Jesus to all whom they meet).
  4. The Spirit of the New Evangelization: Our main focus will include taking Philosophy and Theology courses at Dominican College. Our hope is to build a foundation of knowledge to equip ourselves as effective evangelizers. Sr. Anna and Sr. Monique are currently working to attain certification in Trauma and Addiction Counselling through Algonquin College in order to acquire the skills necessary for our apostolate of working with the poor.

Through prayerful discernment and through the guidance of the Companions of the Cross, each member’s individual formation needs are designed and met. The goal is to organize and integrate each sister’s spiritual, human, physical, and personalized formation.
